Learn How To Find A Sturdy Shutter In Dallas

August 08, 2016

One of our stores in Texas was recently contacted by a previous client. The client had their house wiped out by a tornado earlier this year, but the house’s Sunburst Polywood® plantation shutters survived.

The client’s home required a complete rebuild after the storm, but there were just a few louvers damaged on one shutter panel on one edge of their residence. No other shutter was damaged at all! The clients are now rebuilding their house, and soon, the Sunburst store in Texas will reinstall the very same shutters they purchased in their newly rebuilt house.

Hopefully, your shutters won’t be subject to a natural disaster. But there are a few points to make sure of when looking for shutters in Dallas that are durable and will look beautiful for decades.

*Disclaimer: Sunburst Shutters doesn’t guarantee that their our products will withstand a tornado or other natural disasters, but this is just one example of the durability of our Polywood shutters. See our lifetime warranty.

Sturdy Material

The number one quality to be on the lookout for when choosing a durable window treatment is the material it’s constructed from and the manner in which it’s built. For wood shutters, look for products made from hardwood that is known for being strong and resistant to warping. Our Ovation® shutters use furniture grade basswood and teak, which both meet these criteria.

For engineered shutters, focus on a product constructed from a solid polymer like our Polywood® shutters. Polywood shutters are more resilient than composite shutters, whose weaker composition can more easily cause damage and peeling. Polywood shutters are also resistant to fire, moisture, and termites.

Superior Construction

The structure of a shutter plays a large part in its durability. The louvers of Polywood shutters are kept tight by tension control pins. Epoxy-coated stainless steel staples give added durability. Polywood’s core is solid, and its joints are reinforced and glued for unrivaled strength. Our Ovation shutters are the only five star wood shutter in the world and are made with two different types of joints: dowel joints and mortise and tenon joints, which allows for extra stability. Sunburst is the sole place which can give you shutters built to survive the most extreme conditions.

Sunburst Shutters also takes special consideration in the measuring, creation, and installation processes to make sure you get picture-perfect custom shutters that fit your windows perfectly.

Color That Keeps

Everybody wants shutters that will look brand-new decades after the initial purchase. Other composite shutters may discolor or fade over the years. Our Polywood shutters are encased with a special finish that utilizes UV-inhibitors which keeps your shutters looking brand-new. In addition, an easy wipe down with a cloth is all you need to keep your plantation shutters dust-free.

Warranty

When looking for shutters and window treatments, the warranty is another major factor. When selecting a premier shutter, you would benefit from a warranty to protect your investment. Our Polywood shutters are backed by a lifetime warranty against any problems in materials, workmanship, paint finish, or installation. Sunburst’s Ovation shutters include a warranty against any defects.
